Our Philosophy
At Sea of Skin, our approach is grounded in corneotherapy principles and a holistic understanding of skin health. We work with client’s experiencing ongoing skin concerns such as acne, sensitivity, rosacea, pigmentation, texture irregularities and compromised skin barrier function.
Many clients arrive feeling overwhelmed by conflicting skincare advice, complex routines and treatments that have not created lasting improvement. Our role is to bring clarity to this process and provide a structured, informed approach to skin health.
The Real Problem
Many of clients who come to Sea of Skin are already doing a lot for their skin.
In many cases, their routine includes a combination of active skincare ingredients, professional treatments and targeted products designed to improve acne, pigmentation, congestion or texture concerns.
This may include ingredients and treatments such as
Retinoids
Benzoyl peroxide
Topical acids (including AHA and BHA)
Exfoliating treatments
Professional treatments such as microdermabrasion, peels, derma planing, IPL or corrective approaches.
Skincare containing emulsifiers, preservatives, parabens, alcohol, phthalates & fragrance
While these approaches are often used with the intention of improving the skin, over time they can place stress on the skin barrier.
When the skin barrier becomes disrupted, it may lose its ability to regulate hydration, control inflammation and maintain stability. This is particularly relevant in skin that is already sensitive, acne-prone or reactive, where barrier function plays a central role in overall skin behaviour.
In these situations, the skin can begin to feel increasingly unpredictable by reacting to products that were previously tolerated, becoming more inflamed or dry, or cycling through ongoing congestion and breakouts.
Through a corneotherapy-informed approach, we focus on strengthening skin structure and supporting barrier function as the foundation for improved skin health and long-term stability.
Is Your Skin Barrier Impaired?
The skin barrier is responsible for maintaining hydration, protecting against external irritants and supporting overall skin stability.
When this function becomes disrupted, the skin may begin to behave differently than it used to.
Common signs include:
Stinging, tingling or burning when applying skincare
Tightness or discomfort after cleansing
Increased redness or flushing
Ongoing dryness or dehydration despite using moisturiser
Breakouts that feel inconsistent or difficult to control
Reactivity to products previously tolerated without issue
A general sense that the skin is “unpredictable” or “sensitive”
These signs are often an indication that the skin requires a more supportive, barrier-focused approach to restore balance and function.
What is Corneotherapy?
Corneotherapy is a skin treatment philosophy focused on the health and function of the stratum corneum which is the outermost layer of the skin.
It is based on the understanding that long-term skin health begins with barrier integrity.
Rather than focusing on aggressive correction of surface-level concerns, corneotherapy prioritises supporting the skin’s natural structure and function so it can regulate itself more effectively over time.
This approach is commonly used in advanced skin health settings for concerns involving sensitivity, acne, inflammation, and barrier impairment.
At Sea of Skin, corneotherapy informs every treatment decision, from product selection through to treatment intensity and progression.
What we use
At Sea of Skin, we work with Prologic skincare.
Prologic is a corneotherapy-based skincare system designed to support skin barrier function while maintaining simplicity and integrity in the routine.
It is formulated to work with the skin’s natural processes rather than overwhelming it with excessive actives or unnecessary complexity.
This allows us to build highly individualised routines that are focused, effective and aligned with the skin’s needs at each stage of treatment.
For many clients, this shift alone from complexity to structure, is a significant part of restoring skin balance.
Where do I begin?
All new clients begin with a consultation so we can understand your skin and create a structured, personalised treatment plan.
This allows us to assess your skin in detail and identify the most suitable approach for your current condition.
You do not need to simplify your routine beforehand or have everything figured out before your appointment.
That process is guided within the consultation, where we create clarity around what your skin needs and how to support it moving forward.
